Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • My 95 golf VR6

    Hello everyone,

After spending the last week trolling this forum I thought it was about time I introduced my self.

My name is Ben and this is my 1995 VW Golf VR6,

I brought it 3 weeks ago and have been struck on how cool this car is. I drove a Daihatsu Feroza before this and bugger me what an upgrade.

Found it in a car yard up hear in Newcastle (where I live), took it for a test drive and fell in love. It’s only done 141.000 and as far as I know pretty much bog stock. At the moment I have not got any major plans for it (just the sound system) and maybe a new set of wheels. Being a "p" plater my insurance does not like many modifications so im pretty limited.

The sound system im putting in it is an Alpine head unit, if I can get them in the doors there will be Sound Stream SST's front and back, and a Sound Stream PCW-12 sub. Speakers and sub will be running off Kenwood amps.

Thats about it really, Im loving the forum have learnt so much just from searching the forums. Look forward to hopefully joining in on a few meet ups.

PS Is there and VR6 drivers in Newcastle?

    Cheers Ben

Welcome! Damn I'm jealous of P-platers with VR6s!

Malcolm (schoona on the forums I think) owns a VR6 and is in the Newcastle area too.
          Past: Mk3 Golf 2L 8V, Audi 8L A3T.
          Present: Mk3 Golf variant.

Welcome Ben. Nice VR6 you got there. The handling can soon be sorted as they tend to roll when std

dude, save up, put that thing on coilies and get a supercharger. then, you can smoke many, many people (meaning, you can get to the speed limit faster than them, but no faster ehem ehem).

i DO love the mk3 vr......

Funny bout that! There's also Ben in Adelaide with Maroon (not sure what that colour is called) VR6 :p

I likey! Lots of things you can do to a golf, but the most common for that DUB appearance is the ol drop n poke.

                        Good luck with the modding!
