Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Mk6tdi V GT-D

Hi Peoples, have decided to return to VW ownership after 20 yrs.Have been reading up in this knowledgable site and have a decisionmaking question if anyone can help.
Having missed the opportunity to buy GT tdi new, and believe GTI mk5 not worth buying with new model approaching, i have narrowed choice down to Mk6 tdi and have good deal on the table with CPy 30% tax incentive by June 30th. Having now read the preliminary GT-D info on this site(Thanks to relevant people) i am now uncertain as to whether i should wait? Any thoughts on what price premium over std TDI is likely, timing of release- or assuming TDI is same motor platform, cost and recommended engineer to upspec motor to same GT_D 125k kw if Std tdi bought?

    Thanks in advance!

I would say the GT-D is going to be a special diesel - as much as I wanted a GTI MKV, we settled on the Sportline TDI and were wrapped. To get all the GTI features with a TDI engine is a thumbsup from me!

Would delivery be before June 30?

I was told if you order before june 30, you have to 2010 to take delivery and still get tax benefits???

hey how are things? Check out chipped uk- they have a unit called the st3- it holds stock map and two others, switchbale at your leisure. It is only 800 dollars- but dont let great price fool you. Very very smooth maps. Check out my review in the polo forum titled 'my review of a legit tuning co'.

It took my polo up from 74kw to an alleged 110 or so. Lets put it this way- dangling the bait infront of a car leading on to the eastern fwy the other night at 40 kmh the other night, i could see nothing but his headligts but not what car, and he bit, and jumped forward to overtake. He had plenty of room, but he couldnt get past me.

A few hundred meters later, he gently ambles past (i had slowed down to my usual 95kmh in the left hand lane) and to my pleasant surprise, he is driving an early 2000's wrx. I didnt post this anywhere else as i dont think its beneficial to do so, but its true. Their maps are that impressive.

Check em out! And good luck with the purchase!
