  • Hi Comrades

I've just signed on after taking delivery of a 2008 Polo GTi - What a hoot of a car!

My last bus was a 2002 BMW 330i which gave the Ex & I good service, but it had to go for various reasons (not the least being RON 98 @ $1.35 or so and only 15l/100km). So, now I've got me a little gem that performs just as well and doesn't have a back seat driver

Hoping to exchange info and tips with my Fellow Forum Freaks (FFF), with lots of enjoyable motoring ahead.

Welcome mate! Polos are very good fun cars but to give up a 330i... I'd have to think good and hard about it I have a few mates with 325ci's and i love the car. They are almost as quick as me . I'd imagine that a 330i would be much quicker

Unfortuately it was time for the 330i to go but it was a very enjoyable time together. With the Polo, it's uncanny how such a 'together' feeling in a car can come from something as keenly priced and I'll be interested to find out whether that togetherness can survive as well for as long as it did in the 330.

The 330's quick, yes, but a very different kind of quick fom the Polo and, having also previously owned a 528, I learned that the 330 was a good introduction to BMW's skill with large sports sedans and their ability to manage power.

The Polo's within a fly's foreskin difference, measured in a straight line against the Polo which, with the short wheelbase and wide stance, almost certainly has the handling advantage which is only hindered by the FWD.
