Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    G'day everyone...

Im a member of VASK (same username) and thought I'd pop over here and see what's going on...

I have a 2000 Bora V5 Oettinger as a daily driver, but I am planning to trade that in on a Bora V6 4motion soon. I also have a project car that I am currently working on, the mighty Mk2 Golf VR6 (in a million bits!)

Here are some photo of my cars:

I look forward to having a look around on here and will hopefully track down some part sourcse with your help!

I did not know that the Bora was sold in New Zealend.
I think a few Jetta MK2 models were imported in,and dont think the MK1 was available.
      Not sure about the MK3/Vento.
Think some came in from the UK,Japan and South Africa.
Know that the MK5 Jetta has been sold since 2006.
      Your Bora is great looking.
Good luck with the next one.

Wot part of Godzone you from, Cam?

As for selling the Bora in NZ ... they get a broader range of vehicles there than we do here - for instance ... just go to your local Dub dealer for a V6 Eos if you want one ... or a CrossPolo ... or ... well, you get the picture.

Dave - I am in Wanganui

Anthony - no there was only ever one Bora sold new in NZ (auto V5 evaluation car) but there are plenty of used Japanese and Singaporean imports available over here now (mine is from Singapore).

There were a fair few 1.8 carbed big bumper Mk2 Jettas sold new here in 1990/1991, otherwise nothing new until the arrival of the Mk5 Jetta.

Vento was never sold here, but once again there are heaps of Jap/UK/Singa/South African imports floating about...

Overall we seem to get a fairly decent range of new VW/Audi/Skoda here, but still some annoying things like 5 door only 1.8T Polo GTI, DSG only on Eos and 5 door only on Mk5 Golf (apart from the 30 edition 30s that were all 3 door, manual or DSG)

Check out TradeMe - www.trademe.co.nz and you will see what funny things we get here as used imports, there even seems to be a big stash of Jap import Lupos here now too.
