Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Im new here, can you show me around?

    Hi All,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Currently the owner of a 2021 Skoda Karoq which has been an awesome car. Cant speak high enough of it tbh!
We have the regular model but with all 3 packs (Style, Tech and Premium) as well as the Panoramic sunroof.
The skoda's are very well thought out inside and the ability to remove the seats completely has been really useful when camping and moving big items.

Sadly however we have outgrown the Karoq and need to move onto something a bit bigger for our growing family. I have always loved the look of multivans and having many fond memories from my teens of a mates OG Kombi, id like to go get a multivan and set it up for our family for everyday driving around town as well as the occasional weekend camping trip.

Have to say however, the rather common refrain of reliability issues with the multivan is giving me pause. The following reviews are not great! Attention Required! | CloudflareI do notice however that many people are referring to the T5 in those comments.
We are looking to get a 2018 or later T6 TSI340. Very interested to hear some positive stories about them to balance out the many negative reviews above, and maybe if people know about any changes in reliability issues from a certain year onwards etc, lets hear it!

Hi, Welcome to the forum. Hopefully someone with a T6 will come along & answer your questions. I have a T4 from 2001 & i have not had the problems that can occur with this model on the T4 Forum in the UK.
I was talking to the editor of the VW magazine at a recent VW show in Adelaide. He owns a T5 that has done a very high mileage & he reckons that they are a good van.
There are members on this forum that own the T5 beach model that seemed to be pleased with them & some of those are high mileage.
These, like mine, are diesel engined & maybe not what your preference is.
My preference has always been diesel, manual trans. with full service history.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.
