Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Not an owner yet, but very tempted to find a Mk1 or a Mk2 Golf.

I drive a '94 NA8 MX5 Clubman but with a turbo kit ready to go on, I doubt this is going to be seeing the road a lot soon, and a Golf seems like it would be a fun and easily modified daily.

Just in case anone is interested, MX5 is currently as follows

    NB heated rear screen hardtop
    Bond Davis NB rollbar
    Stance GR+ coilovers
Fibreglass copy of US spec M chin spoiler
Exhaust from a crashed NA6 race car
    Modded intake
14x6.5 +14.5 Watanabe RS8 (sold 4 sets of wheels that I had for this car this year, so only 3 sets left)
Various other bits like clear lenses, Voodoo gearknob, interior bits

    Waiting to go on;

    Full AVO NB Turbo Kit
    Cooling Pro alloy radiator
    Mazdaspeed engine mounts
    15x8 +12 (F) and 15x8.5 +6 (R) SSR Mk2
    Cobra Monaco fixed-back seat

Currently its partly sanded-back as it's going to be resprayed after I finish rolling the guards. Plus I let my cousin drive it one night and he locked it up on some gravel coming into a corner, didnt lift his foot off the brakes because his car has abs, and ended up in a wire fence, which is what initiated the respray... So we sanded the entire car, bogged some shopping trolley dents on one side, too the front bar mostly back to grey plastic but then I left it for ages as a friend who had said he'd paint it never came through, got sick of the grey bits on the bar and the pink bog so got a random can of white spray paint out one morning while hungover, so on the whole, it looks bloody awful atm.

Eventually it will be the original Mazda white again, with black sills, black front lip (hunting down an original rubber one, and a rear lip aswell), black windscreen surround (instead of body-colour as stock and the graphite grey that mine was, which matched neither the body or the soft-top) and black hardtop, Watanabes for street duties and SSR's for looking phat
