Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW Hi from a long time VW fanatic

Growing up, my parents always had VWs. First car I ever fell in love with was my dads Polo GTI 6C at the age of 14, and as soon as I reached the age to buy my own car, you bet it was a Polo GTI 6C.

I owned that for almost two years, ended up taking it to stage 1 UGP ECU and stage 2+ TVS TCU along with a few other mods. Loved that car to the moon and back, until the DQ 200 clutch pack failed at 60k. Managed to get the dealer to cover the clutch pack replacement under the LAST WEEK of my extended warranty, even though the car was modified. Basically got told that was the last goodwill gesture VW will ever do for me and that my extended warranty was also cancelled. Lol. Enjoyed the car for a fair bit after that, then eventually made the switch to a Golf GTI 7.5.

That car was a 7.5 PE1 (limited edition two door version). Amazing thing. Picked it up from a collector in Melb who had it sitting in the garage with only 18k on the clock. Had a few dings and scratches though unfortunately, so spent a bit fixing that up, and also heavily modified it before eventually moving on to the next logical choice, a 7.5 R SE

I'm looking to drive this R to at least 100000kms and own it for quite a few years, so joining here as I no doubt guarantee I'll be asking a few questions along the way. Cheers!
