Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Just bought a used Alltrack

Alltrack is my third VW (in nearly 60 years of driving!), having had a '64 Beetle (60's), and 1.9TDi Golf V DSG new from 2008. The diesel Golf has been a wonderful car! In 280k (basic servicing by me), the only real problem being a rare but annoying leaking Mechatronic communication plug which necessitated regular DSG oil level checks every 6mo or so. Unfortunately my wife ran into a small post at night recently and did substantial damage to the right front of vehicle, though the car is still 100% drivable. Being retired I may have a go at repairing myself, or perhaps simply put the car on FB Marketplace.
The newer Golf has only 78k from late 2015 ($19900 driveaway) so I think we got an OK deal. For me, back to sparkplugs and the relative refinement of a petrol engine.
Looking forward to sharing/learning about the Golf Alltrack.
