Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • SA Hello.

    Hi.

I've finally joined as I'll probably need specific advice. Very very soon. Hopefully I can contribute some as well.

I've got a 2011 MY12 Jetta TDI which I've personally put over 300,000 kms on.
I've just bought a 2009 MY10 Jetta TDI with quite low kms.

    I had a 2006 Jetta previously.

I like VWs, I like sedans and I like tinkering.

I had a RNS510, A 9w7 a Hex-V2 arrive on Friday. The newer Jetta has a flat battery today after fitting the RNS510 and updating the firmware.
I've got another RNS510 arriving this week some time and a loom kit for the 9w7 (for the older Jetta).

Turns out the flat battery after the RNS510 install was a one-off. I performed the firmware update and reloaded the maps. The firmware I got from here, the one with the custom HDD partition.
I can only presume the unit got confused by all the restarting.

      Welcome!
It might still be good to check the gateway version you have to see if it's a known version to cause battery drain.

Do an auto-scan and check the address 19 details; it should look like this.

      Address 19: CAN Gateway (J533) Labels:. 7N0-907-530-V2.clb
      Part No SW: 7N0 907 530 BL HW: 7N0 907 530 AN
      Component: J533 Gateway H56 1682
MY12 Passat FSI Highline | 3.6L VR6 | Cashmere Brown | Driver Assistance Package | Dynaudio | Discover Media | TPMS Direct | Side Assist | Adaptive Cruise | 3D colour cluster | More coming soon
Genuine VCDS HEX-NET and VCP Pro

        According to the scan report I saved, I have it is as follows;

        Address 19: CAN Gateway (J533) Labels:. 7N0-907-530-V2.clb
        Part No SW: 7N0 907 530 C HW: 1K0 907 951
        Component: J533 Gateway H37 0614

The car seems to be behaving itself. Just a flat battery on the morning after install.
