Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi all,
New here but been stalking the Passat and R36 section for a while now.
Was in the market for a R36 wagon but eventually ended up with the B7 wagon last year...
Not sure if my mind’s just playing tricks on me, but the few R36s I checked out all seemed to have a deeper burble on start up, idle and during the drive from what I remember.
The B7 felt too quiet for me, and personally preferred the exterior visuals of the R36, but also quite like the updated interior of the B7..was a tough choice but eventually settled on the B7 because of a few factors compared to available R36s at that time. But just can’t stop looking at R36s online.
Thought of doing some mods to the B7 to spice up the drive a little, but not sure if it’s worth it or should I just look for a R36. Also most mods are based off the B6..not sure if they’ll all fit the B7 perfectly. Also seem pretty hard to source for parts online given the age of the car.
Hoping to get some input and thoughts on this hmmm...
Working...
