Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Double dub owner, new to these forums

Hi all, I've been reading these forums for a while which helped with my recent purchase of an 05 Mk5 Golf GTI 5 door DSG in red, only extras are 18" wheels which I wasn't sure about but are growing on me now. We've had it for a few weeks now and it's behaving itself, the DSG is taking some getting used to but it's a general thumbs up.
We've a baby on the way which is why I've gone the 5 door route, previous car was a current model MX5, great to drive on w'ends but 0 practicality. The wife's car is a Polo from around 2003 (hence the title) which I've driven a fair bit, despite the complete lack of power it's quite a fun little car to drive - I reckon it changes driving habits quite a bit as I can't rely on a bit of throttle.
So anyway, thanks to all the previous forum contributors who have taught me so much about this car already.
