  • NZ Golf MK7 Head unit firmware

This may have been asked a million times but I will try anyway.

Does anyone know where I can download firmware for the stereo head unit installed in my MK7 Golf? The details of the head unit installed are:

    Device Part number: 5G0035050a
    Hardware: H44
    Software: 0256
    Nav Database : 7810

    Any suggestions welcome.

    Thanks

Post a pic of it and if its newer than an RNS510 there isnt any except from a dealer and usually only if the unit has a problem.

The car is an import from Japan so really what I'm wanting to do is convert it to NZ / AU. I have an ODB Eleven scan tool and have tweaked the head unit to the correct region and now receives the radio stations with the higher frequency.

There are a few places here who say they will do the conversion but want $600 + to do it.

This is what one commenter said on another forum:
"Japanese imports need the region changed, firmware installed, maps installed, and activated to your cars VIN number."

The spacing of Jap stations is different as well as in the 90's I had a couple of Jap cars and had to put a converter into the aerial line to make it pick up the NZ stations. They start at a lower frequency and dont go as high as NZ. Best try on the Forum that quote is from

Actually I found this was fairly easy to overcome with ODB Eleven.
Go to Control Unit 5F (Multimedia)
              > Long Coding

              For FM Band
              >Byte_9_Band_Settings_FM_Tuner
              > Select EU_RdW

              For AM Band
              > Byte_9_Band_Settings_AM_Tuner
              > Select EU_RdW

              Apply

I can now scan for all the NZ radio stations from 87.5 t0 108 MHz

credit to this guy for the above solution
Change radio frequency region in MIB1 MIB2 Audi Volkswagen - YouTube

navigation is the one I'm trying to solve which I believe requires the head unit to be updated with NZ / AU region firmware.

Did you find a solution to change the software from Japan to NZ?
