Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Newbie T5 4 motion owner

    Hi All,
First post here to say hi.
    I purchased a 2009 T5 128KW diesel 4 motion crewvan last September.
As purchased it was fitted with raised suspension via king springs and Bilstein B6/B8 shocks.
It also came a factory rear diff lock, VW nav system, aluminium bullbar, all terrian tyres and braked towing kit fitted.
I fitted the rear out with a queen bed frame that fits over the folder rear seat, android stereo/media centre/ nav system and reversing camera and have been mostly very happy with it so far particularly it's surprisingly good performance on soft sand.
The front shocks have recently died pumping out most of their oil and I currently waiting for a set of Koni 8705-1392 Special Active shocks I ordered from Europe to be delivered.
I was hoping someone on this forum might be able to assist me with which setting to set the rebound damping on the shocks before they are installed as they will need to be removed to in order to change the rebound and they need to be fully compressed to make the adjustment.

    Cheers
    Peter
