Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi,

    I'm a long time fan of VW's and owned a string of Golf's (MK5 1.9tdi, MK6 2.0tdi, & Mk7 2.0tdi), I also bought the original Tiguan 2.0 TSFI 4Motion when it was first released. I've only strayed once from VW with an Audi A3 S-Line 3.2 Quattro.

I've been regularly consulting this forum for tips over the years as I undertake everything I can by myself on my cars. However, my ageing MK6 and MK7 Golf's are getting a lot of work this year and I'm going to be asking for some specific advice I reckon. Service work so far this year, 3 x Oil Service Change, 2 x full brake fluid change, brake pads, front and rear, 2 x DSG Oil and Filter Changes. I'm also about to undertake Cam Belt changes on both vehicles, and I'm updating the Infotanment on my MK7 as we speak from an MIB1 with a tiny screen to and MIB2 with an 8" display.

My plan is to facelift my Mk7 (early production 2013 Highline model) and keep it a few more years. I plan on getting an EV as my next VW so I'm holding out for an ID.3 or ID.4 once they land here.

look forward to contributing regularly I hope!
