Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • WA first time VW owner

Hi guys, i'm new to VW, i was looking for a first car to buy and my friend told me to seriously consider VW Golf, hes owned 2 Amarok's so he swears by how good they are and that they're the poormans Merc, he also mentioned the Golf series is one of the safest cars on the market.
My short list was, VW Golf, Ford Fiesta, Suzuki Swift, Mazda 2. With Mazda2 being no1 spot, but I found a good deal for a Golf and asked my friend whom told me to quickly get it, its a fully serviced w/ new tyres VW Golf 2013(MY2014) Comfortline in manual, it has 96k's on it, and the guy wanted $8890, but i got him to $8200 for minor scratches etc.

My family has owned Toyotas for 40 years, it seems the general population agree Toyotas are one of the most reliable cars on the market with cheap parts, but while doing my research for my first car, i discovered the price of a Carolla is through the roof and nowhere near my pricerange, what happened?

    Anyway thats my story.
Working...
