Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • ACT Newbie 2008 T5 Transporter Camper

    Hey Guys,

I've just bought myself a 2008 T5 Transporter Diesel, CityVan.

157000Km's. Full log books. Immaculately looked after! Only 2 dents in the body, stone chips up front and the interior is almost bloody new!

I work in beer sales so I'll be using it as my daily during the week and a camper on weekends for summer escapes with myself and the 2 doggos!

It has an awesome heavy duty draws and false floor/bed frame level in the back ready for what I need!

    ASAP plans:
New Double Din head unit with Android Auto
    Upgraded speakers
Side awning on the roof racks and add all my camping gear!

Any tips and tricks with these bad boys will be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers [emoji482]

    Quick question,

I'm buying a Sony Headunit: Sony Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Media Player - XAVAX3000 | Supercheap Auto

The Fascia: Aerpro Facia To Suit Volkswagen - 959012 | Supercheap Auto

But when it comes to the wiring harnesses do I need both of these? Or just the first one?
Aerpro Wiring Harness - suit Sony Head Units 2013+, APP8SP3 | Supercheap Auto
Aerpro CAN Adapter To Suit Volkswagen - CANVW | Supercheap Auto

Hey BMSSS welcome to the forum from another van newbie. Can't help you with the stereo plans. You have a nice rig there, maybe see you around at some of the local camp spots. Our challenge is to make good on the promises that our vehicles hold!
