Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Potential VW owner

    Hi all,
Well after driving Holdens for the last 25 years, it’s now time to move on.
Before I bought my current SSV Redline, I test drove a Golf GTI and loved it, but I ended up with the Redline because I knew it would be the last V8.
I suffer from a few back issues and the seating position in sedans no longer suits me, so I have been shopping all the mid size SUV’s and am currently down to two options. The Tiguan 262 TSI Highline or the Kodiaq 132 TSI Sportline. I haven’t driven the Skoda yet but I have driven the Tiguan with the R-Line package. I loved it and so did the family.
I am a bit worried the less powerful Skoda may not impress, but it appears to be a pretty well priced package. I prefer the flat floor in the Skoda, but prefer the look of the VW.

I drove the Kodiaq Sportline today and actually quite liked it. I thought it was more comfortable (seats) than the Tiguan but did miss the extra power and torque of the 162.
I actually felt the Skoda was a nicer place to be. Mmmm, decisions.

They’re all good cars in their own right.

The 162TSI Tig has more tuning potential and (possibly) better resale than the Skoda.

Depends on how long you keep cars as to how much of a factor these things are.
