Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • RAC/Vehicle check

Hey guys I'm buying a R32 and wated to get an RAC check. I was wondering do VW garages do a similar service i.e a pre-sale vehicle inspection check?

Hi Zed and welcome to the forum. A VW workshop would do a great job of checking out an R32 as most would have an idea of what they are looking for in the way of problem areas. not that there are many!
    Hope you enjoy the forum,

Depending on where you are mate, I'm sure there will be a mechanic from this forum who would be happy to lend a hand. Update your location in your profile and someone will be able to help you

Cool profile updated. I'm in WA and will be buying the R32 interstate without looking at it hence the need for a vehicle check. I'll either arrange a RAC or VW check, whichever is easiest I guess.

Yeah u dont see many about. reminded me of when I first got my 350z and there were virtually none! What model/colour have you got? I'm getting DSg and either Blue/grey/black (order of preference) and under 10000kms. I can afford 55k, but want to keep it below 50 which would probs mean an 08 is out of reach. I actually prefer rims on the 07.

Ha, I WISH I had an R32... I have a 1994 maroon MK III VR6. Still makes that lovely V6 noise though

There are a few Perth R32 owners on here though, one has supercharged his

Zed, dont want to put you off the R32, I think they are superb cars, but for that price have you considered a recent Audi S3? great cars too, and if you enjoy after-market mods, the turbo offers far more potential.

Haha, making it louder is easy... it's the making it faster bit that's hard with an NA 6...

Yeah I actually would prefer an Audi S3 (just), but there are very few second hand ones around, especially around the 55K mark. I've found 2 on Carsales but the Ks are getting up to 15/20000, I'd like something around 5000/8000km. Also they only come in manual and my wife can't drive a manual () or more to the point doesn't like driving a manual. And I hate automatics hence the reason I'm looking at only VWs/Audis (DSG). My preference would be a good old 6 speed manual.

I might make a cheeky offer on the S3 I've seen before I put in an offer on an R32 and see what he says.

hehe, see if they'll accept yr wife as a partial trade-in. I was very careful in selecting mine - only likes manuals
