New guy here. Been buying and driving BMW's sins 1999 (18 to date) and just traded in my 2013 BMW 328i for a 2018 GTI S DSG for daily use. The car is amazing! I work in the Washington DC area and deal with awful traffic every day. The GTI is comfortable and has everything I need to work through that in a meaningful way (boost and all that).
I still have a couple of BMW's I'm keeping: 2010 E92 M3 DCT, 2002 Z3M Coupe (clownshoe) and a 1996 318ti heavily modified STX class. I've been deep into that world having a great time, mostly with the guys who track their cars and/or are deep into DIY stuff.
The MBQ crowd is great. Been very helpful as I start with some basic mods. They are also a lot younger than the other group and hilarious when they find out I'm a BMW guy - explaining to me that VW's come with this thing called "turn signals" and that they only require one parking space
