  • Jetta 2012 fog light turning signal

    Hi Guys,

Just recently got a Jetta 2012 2.0 TSI Highline model. And I notice that when you indicate either left or right the fog light beneath the side you are indicating lights up. Is there any way to disable this feature? I notice there are some settings on the dash but I have tried them all and it still happens.

The previous owner obviously coded this by VCDS (or some other means).

So you're saying it's not a standard feature on the Jetta?

Not sure about the Jetta but my MY14 Eos does the same, came that way from new, from memory, it's called static cornering lights. When the indicator is on or if you turn the steering wheel below 30 Km/h the fog light comes on to illuminate the roadside. I like it this way, throws some light onto the road close up to the car.

I would think it could be coded out with VCDS or OBD11 if you wanted to.

        Cheers

Highlines usually have it as standard

My Passat has it but it has seperate cornering lights to the fogs and yours probably does as well. Why turn them off they are great when turning slowly into dark driveways and streets. Golfs also have the same

Post questions in the appropriate sub forum This is the HELLO Im new forum

I actually like the feature but I just recently changed all the headlight bulbs from the standard yellow color to the white light ones and it bugs me that the fog lights are yellowish, now I have to change those to make it suit so another $50 bucks or so for those. Any idea what bulbs I need to look for the fog lights?

Fog lights are yellow for a reason and that is yellow cuts through fog better and as its illegal to have them on except in fog why worry.

Make sure it IS the fogs coming on when turning because in mine the fogs and turns use different lights.

In mine there are two lights in the module in the bumper the inner one is the turn light and the outer ones the fog and can only be turned on by pulling the light switch out towards you and turning it to the marked positions. One does the fronts and the other does the rear light

Hopefully you didnt go over 5000k as despite them appearing whiter (blueish) anything over 5000k actually has less light output

I'm old enough to remember when fog lights had yellow lenses for exactly the reason Hillbilly stated.

Thanks guys, all helpful information. I'm guessing the foggies need to be accessed through the wheel well?

Any idea if these would fit in the Jetta?

You don't want 100W of LED in your fog lights. Don't blind people. They aren't yellow, they are just normal halogen colour and appear yellower than LED headlights. For the time they are on, just leave them be. I think they also dim as they go out, which may not be so suitable for LEDs.

Why would you put blue tinged lights as fog lights Defies belief Did you not read about what I said about lights above 5000k or do you not understand the technology. Look up light output in Lumens and light temperature in Kelvins
Fog lights are ILLEGAL to have on in normal driving and are other wise called W+++++er lights in that situation

Seems you are hell bent on doing it no matter what sensible heads say so why are we banging our heads against a wall. I wonder some times
