Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Hi guys thanks for having me,hope all doing well.

Start the story told the missus had g8 idea go to auction get a eos. went I took the bids, got the black eos TDI 2008 ,looks gd.

She stared driving home I get call. Its broken down .I tried starting it ,it did ran very rough loosing power splutting ,engine stopping then it takes of for 20 ms dies altogether .

so we get car towed to a vw Audi mechanic, says we will let u no very soon ,what prob.diagnostic trouble code report_4 faults camshalt position sensor fault priority 4,glow plug, cylinder 3 control module instrument cluster fault intermittent ,egr malfunction intermittent, checked these issues .wen started blew black smoke out thru inlet manifold suspect dpf blocked.

Note fitt new tandem pump, now can position sensor fault ,after fitting pump tried staring it issues same ,so take off dpffrom exhaust manifold, dpf was very clogged ,then tried starting still the same.

I had mentioned to them that it seem electrical rather than mechanical,, 2wks later after trying to get hold of them ,,whilst they were putting it back together car suddenly started working fine put all back together stopped working again. So without asking they pull the cover off engine decided to put new injector seals in . this same time we go to shop. We told 8half hours labour at 121 per hour 200 for seals ,but that probably not to the prob quote.

So we spent 242 on tandem pump ,labour for that 715 plus gst on all that ,110 tow then anther 726 labour to check above components not replace ,need advice pls pls spent 1800 ,got to spend anther 16/1800 to be told prob won't fix it. In fact they said do u want to just stop the work .. While icar got values and things out .

is it fair to say would have been easier to checked the electric fuel ignition and other electrics before spending 160) on a not prob the issue .

not sure wot to do next .sorry long letter . must add wen the car started working was wen one of them were playing with lume plug for electronic feul system

are these prices fair . thanks guys like really. Happy car buying has made nothing but real tears for my girlfriend I feel very responsible I even chose the vw repairer

I suggest posting up the symptoms and what you have done so far in the diesel section as you most likely to get someone with the knowledge to advise there.

Actually done it for you - please post all follow up in this thread: Eos TDI vw 2008

Good luck and sorry to hear that you auction/VW experience was not a good one
