Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • ...a man walks into a VW dealership

So I guess for me it was a bit of a midlife crisis thing but, at any rate, my wife and I needed a new car. Id never owned a new car before and my Dearest had had a series of asthmatic vehicles of Korean origin that required turning off the aircon to climb Punt road hill (south of the bridge).

To cut a mildly tedious story short we chose a VW Golf R Grid - It didn't look like a child's toy, it's violently quick and it could be got in a manual, which we both prefer (we're old school!) I stumbled on this site and found a wealth of knowledge and wit...thanks to all so far for the info.

I'm new to VW - the only facts I had of the brand before May this year came from badly edited SBS doco's

Anyway I've added a pic of my new toy (...hope it's visible) - thanks for the forum!

Great looking car, love that colour. My wife fell in love with the Golf R while we were in a VW showroom over the weekend. Sadly for her, her little Mk V Pacific diesel is still going strong.

Good work mate! Im back in a Golf R Grid (1 week old) after an A45 AMG and more recently an RS3. I fell in love with WV 3 cards ago when i had an MK5 R32 in DSG. Man what a car that was!! Anyway, dont want to steal your thunder but great choice of car. Im very happy with mine and you will be with yours!
