  • Preparing to buy a Tiguan

    Hi All

Have really appreciated all the information on this site. I am currently starting the negotiation phase to buy a new Tiguan Comfortline 110TSI with Luxury Pack. Car looks and drives great. I love the features, the clincher for me is the space it offers in the boot. Now to try to get it for a price I am comfortable with......

I am in WA, would love to hear any feedback on what you paid.

    Preparing to buy a Tiguan

If you haven’t already done check out the Tiguan section as there’s a sticky post there with prices/deals people have negotiated.

If you get 10% off RRP you’ve done well. You may find end of month is a good time to get a deal and if there’s some 2017 build date cars around you should be able to negotiate these ones down to that 10% value.

I know in WA it can be a bit harder because there’s less VW dealers, but tell them you’re cross-shopping a CX-5 and make them work for it.

    Good luck!!!

Thank you so much tigger73, very helpful. Funnily enough I have been comparing with a CX-5 Touring, as I just sold mine. Will go try find that sticky post, and keep my fingers crossed I can negotiate a deal. Have also been tempted by the 1.8% finance deal, but am worried the dealer will then be less amenable to my pricing.

1.8% deal is effectively a discount from VW. It’s nothing to do with the dealer margin on the car.

Don’t let them convince you otherwise. They can still discount the car to get a deal over the line. Just get them to sell you the car as a “demo”. Been done before.
