Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • QLD Brisbane bushwalker and Tiggy owner

    Hi all,
I've been meaning to join this forum ever since a Trimmer told me about it. I love my 2010 Tiguan 147 as the quality was far better than other vehicles that I had owned to date. After 7 years of driving it in on and off road conditions I have been surprised at how robust the car is.

My only misgiving has been the sunroof, well sort of. I love the open air and sunshine and initially used to pop the sunroof regularly. However as I've got older the wind rush etc has been more of an annoyance to my tinitus (ear issue) than it is worth. Also the QLD sun can get a bit much, so it stays closed mostly.

But recent water leaks has exposed the well known issue of poor drainage tube manufacture/construction and I've also had a secondary issue with the bottom of the drainage tubes. This arose when I got a rear towbar added and the unknown to me the installer decided to squeeze his wiring through the same hole that the drainage tubes come out of, behind the rear wheel arch . So after fixing those issues I think I have another leak with a rear outlet - pulling liner off today to have a closer look. Suffice it to say I would love a schematic/drawing or image of what the rear corner sections on the sunroof look like, so I might put this query/post in the appropriate thread.

So great to be here and thanks for having me on board.

    Cheers
    Chris
