Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC Head Unit Upgrade Advice Kenwood 7017 v's Offical VW

    Hi there,

I'm new to the forum, I bought a 2011 Polo GTI about 7 weeks ago. Loving it so far, absolute joy to drive.

I do need to upgrade the head unit though as it has no bluetooth and it's very basic, right now I am connecting my phone through the headphone jack. I really want one with Android Auto and I'm considering the following:

Kenwood DMX-7017BTS fully installed with the VW integration kit it will cost just under $900. I am assuming I would also notice a significant sound quality increase too?

Is this good value or should I look for an official VW one, i.e, RCD 330+

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.
