QLD Next QLD Cruise (GC Mountains)

Hey Guys

Was looking at this route for a cruise and thought I'd throw it out there for some opinions.

ROUTE



Its got some great twisties up and down the mountains and few nice places along the way to stop like the Crystal Creek Minitures, Gruners Lookout, Mt Tamborine and finishing at an Irish Pub in Calypso Bay.

It's about 200km (C-D says 61km but thats because Google Earth is still asleep).

Might be fun.

Lemme know if you keen and which dates.

For some reason Google Maps believes there is no other way between some of the parts and is adding approx 70km to the trip to accomodate. NOTE C -> D.

The other loops are there just to try and keep the route in the mountains but are not neccessarily the confirmed route. I'd like to try keep some of the places to visit in the route and arrange it so we don't have to double back on the same roads.

But have a go at re-arranging it if you'd like and post the links. If you guys know a good road to drive add it in and post the updated link.

With regard to dates.

Either:

Saturday - 2nd August
Sunday - 3rd August
Saturday - 9th August
Sunday - 10th August
Saturday - 16th August
Sunday - 17th August

Whose keen on which dates? I'm flexi on all of them?

I'm flexible on which date as well, provided we can confirm a date by this weekend as I've got a ex-Mazda owners cruise which I'll pull out of if this ends up close to it.

Booked in for a lovely 14 day trip to the CQ mines at the beginning of August.

A mk1 not make it??? sounds like a poor excuse your forgetting that there will be a couple of Mk1 technicians on hand . mine will be back on the road in 2 weeks so i vote mid august but i have a back up Dub so i can go anytime just doesn't have the same style as a MK1 or power

Not sure if I'll be able to make it at all now. Turns out the front brakes are under the minimum width of 30mm (they're at 29.6mm). So I'm currently in the process of organising new rotors, pads and braided lines and then I'll have to get the R booked in with Jimmy to install the shiny new bits and fill her up with some lovely Martini fluid.
When all that gets done will determine when I can return to spirited driving.
Until then though...
