It's a long time away to commit, but please add me anyway. Red Polo.
For those that want to drive faster then HL pace, want to push the car and yourself harder then consider joining in on QR ran Sprint events or TimeAttack ran events. You can drive as hard as your car or ability allows, but in much safer environment with less cars to interact with. There's only overtaking allowed on the main straight, which for TimeAttack is very well enforced, safety is paramount. They also don't condone the "drag racing" down the straight to hold someone up through the next 3/4s of the circuit either. Doug usually does the safety presentation and Paul Ruzic who runs also has a high expectation of driver consideration. TimeAttack events are trying to be more accessible to street oriented cars and drivers rather than more focused cars and drivers.
Anyway, that's my plug for those that get frustrated at HL pace or seeking a clear track to increase the commitment.Track Car: 06 Polo GTI Red Devil mkII
Daily: 2010 VW Jetta Highline
Gone but not forgotten: 08 Polo GTI

Unfortunately QR/Lakeside shut down for the second half of December and they get a lot of social groups having their Christmas breakup happy laps so the earliest date we could get for breakfast was 17 January.
Lunch might have been an option for an earlier event but it requires an extra $400 which means we either have an extra 10 cars or people get charged $50 to attend and have their tyres melt off after 2 laps due to the midday summer track temperatures.

4 Years has gone by crazy fast with some help from Aaron and Gav and Ben along the way.
I'd like to think we have a good group with the rules in place to make sure that everyone can go out and have a spirited drive and know that they will be able to drive their car home at the end of the event without any issues that some of the other clubs have had.
In the end, the quality of the event comes down to the people who are attending and our group is friendly, open to new attendees and happy to talk about any good or bad things that happened which I am thankful for.
Luckily QR and Lakeside know we like to run a tight ship and we get the benefits of some extra track time if other events permit it.Last edited by team_v; 03-11-2015, 12:02 PM.

Sean - I'm hoping to join the time attack crew for 2016
Clay - you should be really proud of the events. There is nothing like them where you get a group of awesome people together to have a good safe time. You should be seriously proud of the events

For those interested in timeattack events and to not hijack this thread, jump across to http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...-a-102659.html. Ask any q's.
Last lakeside TA event of the year is 6 December, feel free to come and check it out so you know how it's ran. Free entry. Great bunch of people, and not just those who drive VW's

Happy Laps is a great way to dip your toes in the motorsport water and a good way to have a spirited drive without having to worry about traffic and police.
We have now had 4 people decide that they liked the experience enough and wanted to push harder so have upgraded to sprints/timeattack. I have stayed on past happy laps to watch them have a crack and it is a lot less restrictive with the cones removed and no speed limits. Definitely worth spectating and having a chat to the guys in the pit lane while they are off after their session.
I would argue that anyone who is going down a turbo upgrade path should probably be investigating sprints or timeattack as happy laps at lakeside is too restricted to actually see the benefits of the modifications.
