of all the VWwatercooled Happy Laps since 2011, we tend to have incompatibility with certain Jap cars who were guests to our forum for some reasons and also rwd cars (3 cars that crashed / came off the black stuff during the VWwatercooled HL were all rwd cars).

not saying rwd cars are bad, but those cars require more skillful drivers as opposed to fwd and awd cars.

His GT-R is an R35, so all wheel drive. Besides, being so new, I doubt he would push very hard...

then that could also cause issues depending on the driver's consideration to others. high horse-powered cars often makes it difficult for most of our vw / audi 2L turbo cars (except potentially one GTI here ) to overtake on the main straight without having to break all the HL rules (and we don't want that) and if not going with the flow on the corners and not allowing other cars to overtake for whatever reason, they tend to cause and have caused frustration to the golf's and polo's in the past.

we have an audi R8 regular and we love having him here. he plays by the rules well.

He's a very considerate fellow, more likely to get out of the way on the straight.
In any case, he's pretty reluctant (warranty, insurance, etc etc). Maybe it's best he just comes along for the ride this time.
But I suspect he'll regret it!

Unfortunately it is a strict Euro only and FWD/AWD only event from now on.

We have had too many problems and too many near misses for me to be comfortable bringing in cars that don't match these specifications and QR have requested that we make the format more reflective of the core premise of happy laps.

SAU hold monthly happy laps events that your friend can attend (there is one on 11 October) as well as Downshift (24 October).
