QLD Timed Track day - This Sunday @ Norwell Driver Training - run by DOWNSHIFT

Due to the success of the last few Circuit & Coffee meets, we're putting on a full day track day at Norwell!

We'll have circuit racing, on-track cruising, as well skidpan and gymkhana operating all day. SO MUCH TRACK TIME!!

We're also providing a free sausage sizzle and a couple of drinks as part of the package, so you're always fed and watered.

This is a great way to get out there and give your car a good thrashing in a safe, legal way!

Drivers' briefing kicks off at 7am, so be there on time for max track time.

I saw this one a little while ago and Machine was looking into it due to his desire to have a more dedicated track event over Happy Laps.

It seems like the downshift guys didn't really know how it was going to be run or how it was going to be timed so i will be interested to hear the feedback on how it actually goes.

I am headed to this with my mate in his 4agte powered ae86.

Should be interesting, there are going to be a few nice cars attending!

It is a good safe track & hones up some skills you don't use on the other QLD circuits.

They also have access to the skid pan which is a big bonus - run at the same time I believe

Ya, feedback would be good. Might be keen for the next one, if there is a next one and it's also at Norwell.

Was an excellent day - the organisation was actually really good. There were a couple of Golf R's, an R32 & a GTI running - about 60 cars all up, Lexus LFA, Porsche 997 Turbo, lots of cool JDM cars.

Will definitely attend the next one - Norwell is a great little circuit.

How many cars went out per group and how did they organise the timing?

6 cars per group, so well controlled track density (I think that's all the insurance allows) Manually timed (6 people with stop watches) yesterday - next one should be timed with transponders I understand!

Good to know the transponders are being thought of.
Out of curiosity, how fast did you end up getting the R to go?

I think it was 1.02.7 - fastest Euro and second or 3rd outright. Unfortunately had to go after my second run (Daughters birthday party) otherwise I reckon I could have cut another second off and taken outright. Beat the LFA & 997T and showed some GTR's what a Golf can do

It was really good to have that many cars on the circuit (it might have been 7 per session), you could concentrate on laps rather than looking in your mirrors or trying to get around other cars.
