  • QLD MK1 Driver's Group

    Hi All,

The Gold Coast Vee Dub club are holding their annual show'n'shine on May 5th at the Heritage Park Historical Village, 193 Rifle Road Pimpama (Exit 49 on the M1). Last year the Mk1 group had a good roll-up and the show was well organised, so it is worth the trip out. VWMA will have a trade stand there and I'll also judge the best early watercooled on the day. The club will make sure that all the waterpumpers are grouped together.

Of course, this is followed in two weeks time with the Dubs At The Abbey at Bribie Island (postponed from February) on Sunday May 19th. The cruise assembles at the Boondal Entertainment Centre between 7-8am. Another great day, so please mark it down. More details to follow, or check page 112 of the latest issue of VWMA due out May.

Lastly, there's the big Dyno Day at Leon's Motors, Saturday 1st June. This would be a great opportunity to put your Mk1 or B1 on the rollers. Pre-booking only for this by ringing Leon's on 3277 7489. Cost for a run on the Dyno is $50 and the day is limited to 30 cars, so be quick.

    Cheers

Definitely keen on both meets - if I can get the mk1 running well enough for a dyno run I'll put myself down for that too!

Any Mk1 drivers keen on putting down to Pimpama from Brisbane? I'm just north of the city so I can meet up with people along the way

Yep! I live in Fairfield and quite close to the Juliette street exit/entry for the M3/M1.

How many usually represent the MK1 Drivers Group? I am definitely down for the GC meet, unsure about Bribie as yet.

Last gathering was the VWDCQ Action Day - we had nine MK1/B1s in attendance.

You can check the face book page if you wish - http://www.facebook.com/mk1driversgroup

Andrew Bax set this face book group up. His show winning Mk1 is featured in the current issue of VWMA.
