Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

The Pantry on Egmont is a great little cafe - fantastic breakfast, great service and not expensive either. I think we should start many more cruises with breakfast here!

Here are a few quick shots I grabbed at Clarendon - we were down to five at this point. Jake left us here, but the remaining four made it all the way to Goolwa. We missed you Phil!

    • And for those not on Facebook, here are a few I took of my S3 up at Mount Alma on my way home from Goolwa. It's a spectacular view up there, and definitely worth checking out for the odd photo if you haven't already. Just be prepared for the wind.

          Thanks mate!

One more, just to motivate people to get out there and check it out. It's a pity the photos really don't do justice to how steep the hill is. I was pretty worried about the handbrake for a while there.

Yeah I had fun but had to head back at Clarendon. Breakfast at The Pantry was amazing and coffee was spot on but next time I have to have that french toast you had Adam, it looked epic!

              • Anyone else heading along to the VW Driving Experience at Mallala this week?

I'll be there for the Monday afternoon session - really looking forward to it. Hopefully not too wet (but that could be a bit of fun too).

There's still a few tickets left on the Wednesday and Thursday if anyone has a last minute change of mind... and if you need a $100 discount code let me know as there's a few floating around.

Yes I do miss the old Tig1. Though I can drive my wife's Tig2 anytime but it's not quite the same. And no I'm not going to lower it and tune it as she says she can already drag most things off at the lights as-is

Anyway $200 to drive someone else's brand new car around a race track with an instructor using their petrol, tryes and brakes is a pretty reasonable deal. Oh and a nice lunch too

I know there's a few people going on Tuesday for "free".

I'm assuming they don't let you push it hard enough to risk that too much.

Yeah definitely don't let people loose in the cars. You have an instructor in the car at all times and they pretty much tell you when to brake so that people don't over-cook it.

Also if you don't listen to the instructors then they tend to get pissed and you risk getting yourself black flagged for future events.

One of the driving instructors told us about a horror story from an AMG drive day at Mount Panorama where they can hit some serious speeds. One guy just thought he could plant his foot and steer the car around the track.... Needless to say he ran into the kitty litter at the end of the back straight and his drive ended pretty shortly after that.
