  • QLD Queensland Raceway Happy Laps

Just a quick note to advise that due a change in personal circumstances, I am unable to continue co-ordinating the Queensland Raceway Happy Laps. Thanks to everyone who came along for the events to date, and showed appreciation - it was certainly rewarding to see the satisfaction that the Happy Laps bought to everyone participating and the enthusiastic post mortem chats following each event.

If there is anyone who would like to continue with co-ordinating QR Happy Laps, I can assist with contact numbers and details.

Please note, this is not related to Lakeside Happy Laps, as Clay organises the Lakeside events separately from the QR Happy Laps.

It's a shame to lose you mate.
I understand your point of view and am trying to sort out a more formal arrangement.

Such a bummer. But completely understandable. I'm sure it took a lot of time and effort for you to organise such events. Shame to lose your expertise. Hopefully someone else is able to pick up where you left off
Thanks for the efforts over the months!

Aaron, do you know if they'll agree to provide the National circuit rather than the Clubman for happy laps? Or at least let us choose from either option? The first HL I did was national, the second clubman...any way of locking in one or the other beforehand? Or even Sprint configuration? I'm vaguely considering coordinating...

When i organised the first one at QR and the ones at Lakeside it seems like every time you get some new rule or some old one ceases to exist.
Most times i call up to book i get someone new who doesn't even know they offer Happy Laps.
The whole process is very unorganised.

                Not any time soon mate.
I plan on keeping the Tig for another 18 years and arranging for happy laps to continue (whether it be through the Drivers Club as organisers or some other way to limit litigation) for as long as possible.

That's krap. We'll change the name to krappy laps.

As Happy Laps is usually just a "filler" to take up the spare time before and at intervals during whatever meet is on, the track configuration is usually at the mercy of whatever the requirements are for the main tracker hirer. In a curve ball as Clay suggests, at the last event at QR, they asked us about 10 minutes before we went on what configuration we wanted, something very unusual considering it would have been a bit of mucking around for them - and as it was the National Circuit at the time, I suggested they left it at that, as it would have been easier for everyone to leave it as it was, and most people seemed to like that configuration in the past.

If you are considering organising, I can PM you details.
