Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Our DOVW 2007 - Adelaide to Melbourne

A little picture story of our DOVW experience. We left Adelaide at 0610 hrs on Sat 24th in our Flash Red CL Golf III. It's the first Intersate trip for us in the CL, but I don't think it was the first for the car.

We usually take the Green T4 Transporter, but this was going to be a quick trip - leave Adel. Sat, leave Melb. after the show. Our first scheduled stop was Horsham for refuelling.

    Travelling through the Adelaide Hills.

One of the many small towns to go through at 80kmh, very annoying.

Refuelling at Horsham. We used 98 RON for the entire trip.

The Giant Koala at Dadswell Bridge.

    On the way to Ballarat.

A great looking T5 Dual Cab went flying past on the Ballarat Freeway.

A great view from the Westgate Bridge.

On the SE Freeway, the last leg to the Dandenong Tourist Park.

At our cabin. After unpacking, a trip to the local BWS for a 6 pack of Bitburger. An early meal of spagetti took away the hunger pangs, and gave me energy to clean up the Golf. A wipe over of all the frontal area with Armorall Cleaner, then to find a car wash to clean the rest of the car and refuel. In the morning Meguiars Quick Detailer had Monika ready for the show.

After stopping for a bag of ice, we foung the show venue very easily, thanks to those who we followed. Found Karen from Tasmania behind us in her Golf V GTi.

This looked promising....some new VWs to look at.

Finally I was able to take a pic. If it wasn't bad enough having a waterleak, finding the front passenger floor (and after we arrived home the left rear floor) very wet was not nice. Thanks to all who helped morally with some good advice. It was a pleasure to meet you all.

Nice pics Maris, especially the VW Rural Road show truck pics. I didnt get a chance to take any pics on the day.

Here is a couple of pics of the mystery VW. Pre war prototype. 1937 Body on a 1944 pan. Pretty cool.

Some more of the Hanomag. I was told they were made in Czechoslovakia for German Officers during the last war.
