Just so everyone is aware, the 6.5 hours that they have set aside is also for another group doing the driver training as well as the open sprints to be run so we won't be on the track the whole time.
The driver training starts at 10:00am and goes until 4:30pm but the first hour is theory and the second hour is getting all signed up and car emptied.
Any experienced sprints driver or racer will tell you that the best way to improve your cars performance is to improve the driving performance of person sitting behind the steering wheel.
We all think we're great drivers on the road, and it is true to say that some of those skills are transferable to the track.
Completing Queensland Raceways Advanced Driving Course and spending one-on-one time with Queensland Raceways resident professional race driving instructor Doug Chapple will really help you hone your driving technique.
Who is Doug Chapple?
Doug has over 40 years experience in motor sport with more recent years having been spent in Sports Cars with many Championship wins and places, plus twice winner of MG Car Club of Queensland, Race Driver of the Year.
Dougs' vast experience has been put to good use over recent years instructing others one on one in a variety of on track products including V8 Experience, Time Attack Track Days and Stokell Motorsport Track Days.
Whats Included
1.Expert one-on-one tuition with Motor Sport Champion Doug Chapple
2.A choice of two award winning race tracks
3.Race suits and helmets will be provided
4.Theory session up to elite standard (including corner planning, car preparation, tyre selection)
5.Certificates from completion of the course
It is held on the same day as a sprint session.
We would rock up an hour before the sprint session in order to do a theory lesson on how to set up the car, work out where the apex's are, cornering speeds and lines etc.
Then as part of the sprint session we would go out and do our 5 x runs of 5 laps with the instructor going along with us for one of the sessions and giving hints on how to improve.
I believe what they do is let you out on the track as your own group during the sprint sessions to put your training into practice and get some real experience.
Each person will get an instructor in the car for 5 laps and then other sessions where you will be on your own to put the instruction to use on your own while the instructor is showing someon else how to do it.
There will be groups of 5 people in order to have everyone instructed.
We will need to have you all there at 10.00am for the class room session, approx 45 mins.11.00 will be registration at the circuit office, unpack car in car port allocated and get set, 12.00 Drivers Briefing and on track at 12.30.
So as the instructor has said we need to be there for 10:00am i would reccomend we get there for 9:30-9:45 to make sure everyone is there on time.
As we also have happy laps the same morning it's not like you are't going to have anyone to talk to while you wait.
It is on the 18th, as in saturday this week.
Same day as Happy Laps.
Sigh, coffee isn't working. I THOUGHT it was 18th, but couldn't find a date in this thread :S I just booked into Open Sprints for Sunday by accident too, thinking this wasn't on.

Yep. Won't do Sunday. I did the last Street Sprints with a full day of practice + sprints and I was buggered by the end of it. Well and truly shattered, physically AND mentally. Car was in better condition then me
I thought i sent out a private message stating what date it was on but now i am not sure if i did or not.
Will get a bit more organised for the next one.
Only 3 days to go for this one, super pumped to see how it goes!
Make sure you have a full tank of fuel for the day and check your tyre pressures/oil.
