Unfortunately I'm most likely going to have to pull out of running the car on this day.
The car has some unforeseen suspension issues. Unfortunately someone didn't do their job properly and due to the short time notice the issues will not likely be rectified in time.
I could enter, but it has been recommended that I do not. It's simply not worth the risk. You need to enter these days being confident in the car, and now I am not.
Oh %#$%@#% They've had MONTHS to fix your car and it still isn't right??
This totally sucks (especially as I was going to use you as a target to try and get my times lower )
Not looking too good for the weekend. Dan (Lucky13) and I can't get the Mk1 to run properly. Installed another fuel pump and a surge tank, but the car doesn't want to idle at all.
Had a brake booster that was leaking, replaced that tonight, and now the car's breaks are stuck. Gonna call it a night and try again tomorrow. Really don't want to miss the track day.

Come on, you can get it done.
I have quite a bit to do tomorrow, play around with the brakes a little more, suspension settings, take out back seats, give a good going over the car

Geez, why did you bother bringing out a mechanic from Germany if he can't sort Mk1???
Seriously, though, if Dan can't get it working, there must be something serious amiss - that guy knows stuff about VWs that most service centers wouldn't have a clue about. Really hope you guys get it sorted and make it up.
Resident grumpy old fart VW - Metallic Paint, Radial Tyres, Laminated Windscreen, Electric Windows, VW Alloy Wheels, Variable Geometry Exhaust Driven Supercharger, Direct Unit Fuel Injection, Adiabatic Ignition, MacPherson Struts front, Torsion Beam rear, Coil Springs, Hydraulic Dampers, Front Anti-Roll Bar, Disc Brakes, Bosch ECU, ABS
All over, was a nice day, weather was great tho cold, huge turnout.
Suprised how many cars were there, from formula fords (i think it was) to ex V8 supercars. First sesson out the second lap a commodore span and couldnt get started again and had to be towed back to the pits, so the whole session was on the amber caution.
Later in the afternoon there were to many cars on the track and all bunched up which was a bit of a pain in the bum.
Only got one decent session and my brakes felt crap, was going into corners way too hard and having the rear come around on me, some corners i was pumping the pedal to make sure the brakes were still there.
Bit disappointed, but i have only just got the brakes on the car and no time to really test them and make sure everything is perfect. Didnt really need bigger brakes, for the track it would have been better to spend $$ on decent tyres.
So my car is torn between a street/show, or a street/track car, just have to decide what I want to put money into. I know with a LSD and semi slicks, it should be a weapon around winton, should be lol
Yeah, a bit disappointing for me too as I couldn't quite match my previous best time despite having improved braking. I could try to blame it on tyre degradation but at the end of the day, I'm probably at my limit.
An LSD (or rather a TBD) is definitely on my shopping list as traction out of the slow corners is really an issue.
I also killed another Advan in my last session

I came in from my last session and found the driver front was deflating (you could hear a hiss when up close). It must have happened near the end of the session else it would have fallen apart like the others I destroyed - maybe when I moved offline to let someone pass and drove over the çrap that gets pushed off the race line
There were bits of wire from the steel belt stuck in the inside shoulder and what looked like a small hole where you could see a bundle of wires inside.
I wouldn't get too disappointed by your time, Troy - you were basically driving a car with unsorted suspension, brakes and engine mapping given all the mods since last year. From the timesheet, your last session was much more consistent (and all very close to your best time) so I'd say your driving did improve.
I get it to run, but not in one hour and one day before.
actually I didn´t know that it´s not idling until i picked it up to fit the surge tank. Just got the surgetank fitted at the night before I left.
