Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • SA Sunday Session Cruise to the Beach.

Edit : This is for the 12th February

So following on from the earlier thread here's the deal.

Revised Route now has Mylor Maccasfield and Clarendon leg removed and thus goes Cherry Gardens > Chandlers Hill > Seacliff.

Makes it a bit of a quicker trip but I suppose that gives us more time for Photo's and Lunch.

    So In Summary:
    Revised Distance ~ 95km
    Revised Driving time ~ 1hr45 - 2hrs

Start: Taylor Blend Hallett Road Burnside (for coffee / brunch)
Via: Ashton, Lenswood, Balhannah, Mt Lofty, Upper Sturt, Cherry Gardens, Chandlers Hill, Seacliff
Ending: Seacliff Beach Hotel (lunch stop)

Pause Points (brief stops to allow re-grouping only if necessary)
Lenswood Uniting Church - Corner Swamp Rd and Adelaide Lobethal Rd (POINT D ON MAP)
Mount Lofty Summit (definite stop in carpark)
Chandlers Hill Road outside Blue Dolphin Swim Center (POINT H ON MAP a couple hundred metres prior to turning onto Happy Valley Drive)

    Meet Time:
10am for a 11am Sharp Departure. If your not planning on joining us for coffee / cake, feel free to drop in around 10.30, but we Will be leaving at 11am with or without you.

End Time: Approximately 1pm-1.15pm at the Seacliff Beach Hotel. Arrival time will depend on stops for photos (have included a generous time for this)

    Sound Good?

Comments and feedback? Please select the appropriate option for yourself in the poll above.

Regarding bookings for lunch, none have been made yet but if there is enough interest we might do this.

EDIT PM me for a Google Maps of the Route

As always, anybody planning on coming and driving like a *insert asterisk here* DONT come. The roads chosen have plenty of corners where you can drive spiritedly but within speed limits. Drive at your own pace and if you do get lost / left behind divert to the next regroup / pause point. We will wait for lost members at these points. Mobile phone numbers w

I drove the first Segment of the route today.

Now Goes Dept Point > Ashton > Lenswood > Oakbank > Carey Gully > Picadilly > Summertown > Mt Lofty

            Then rest as previously planned.

I changed it because the run between lobethal and oakbank were straight boring roads.

Please PM me if you would like a copy of the route. I recommend this and having a quick study of the route prior to the day so that you are familiar with where we are going ahead of time.

I'm not going to drive the second segment as its not near where i live so as it stands the route has been finalised.

Distance is 95km and Time 1hr59 min according to Google, so still in spec.

            Cheers,
            Rob

Nice one Rob! Took the bull by the horns there I may or may not be there in the Golf this time as I've got a few bits to do mechanically, but if not I'll try and drag Dan along... unless you want a passenger again Rob?

I went and found Taylor Blend. I wasn't too sure on route but I know the hills around lofty quite well and drove them home in the wet last night. Such great roads. It was a great drive except for the couple times I got understeer in the wet. The golf handles like its on rails. Absolutely love it

Looks like the weather *should* hold out for us... question is, do I wash the car or not. If I do it almost surely guarantees a storm front to move in.

Just to make things upon departure easier, Can I suggest that everyone park on the eastern side of Hallett Road if possible.
Here's a photo of Taylor Blend (on the right of the photo) with my suggested parking marked with Red Lines. This is so that nobody has to do u-turns etc when we leave.

I'll be in the Bora so if you see that you know I'm there. Since most (probably all) of you haven't met me, here's my ugly mug http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z...6/74a6358b.jpg. Dont look for a guy holding a gearbox though as you'll be waiting a while! If I find it i might be wearing a grey VW hat too.

See you all later this morning.

Oh Last Thing, Taylor Blend DOESN'T have Eftpos (well not the last time I went) so if your planning on joining us there best be aware of this!
