Hi All,
Entries for VW Warwick 2011 are now closed and the field is an impressive 79 cars and drivers. This equals the 2009 record field which had 84 drivers and 79 cars (double entries for qualifying). This weekend certainly showcases the best VW drag racers and cars this country has on offer.
David O'Connor (Shrapnel) is traveling up from Adelaide to defend his points lead in the 2011 series. Brad Young (Junka) is hoping to turn the tables. Rohan Keylock will be backing up his 2010 Warwick victory.
After VW Portland the points table is as follows:
1. David O'Connor - 190
2. Courtney Hawker - 175
3. Brad Young - 155
3. Rose Merrett - 155
4. Mike Waldron - 100
5. Rod Penrose - 80
6. Andrew Ermel - 80
Victoria currently lead the State Of Origin Challenge, but a word to the wise - Qld make up nearly 70% of the Warwick field, so my guess is this will probably swing to the homeside advantage.
The watercooled bracket has a healthy field of 8 competitors, consisting of MK1s up to tuned Golfs. This will make for an exciting tussle.
Tickets, etc can be collected from the VWMA tent on Friday. Any changes to your tickets/crew/etc can also be made at that time.
If you know of anyone who missed the cut-off and were planning to compete, they can call me on 0419 735 596.
See you on the track.
Cheers
