Volkswagen Driving Experience | Volkswagen Australia

Who's in for this? RAC Driving Centre (airport AHG track) - 3rd August...$150 if you use your discount code

ive already signed up...get to track Polo GTI, Golf GTI/R/GTD, Tiguan & Passat CC

    Driving Progression Course

Our Driving Progression course is for the more experienced driver. Taking the basics of the Driving Insights course, drivers will be taken through more advanced training scenarios to really test their skills. The exercises will be more difficult, and the on-track driving more demanding, so you will need to be on your game.

Based on the skid-pan and the circuit, the instructor starts off by assessing your current skills. You'll then get pushed a little harder so you can show him what you are made of. During the course you'll receive personal coaching to make sure you understand the correct techniques, giving you the best opportunity to put them in to practice during the on-track session.

The final circuit component will see you work with your instructor again, giving you the opportunity to show him what you have learned. He will be looking for your understanding of car balance and vehicle dynamics, as well as your vision and awareness of what is happening around you. The speeds may be a little higher during this session, so make sure you're ready to test your driving skills to the max.

    Key Skills in this course:

Car control at greater speed (braking and steering)
    Understanding appropriate cornering technique
Demonstrating and understanding performance capabilities of the cars
Wet weather car control (safety features on and off)
    Managing fatigue
    Course specifics:

    Refreshments, tea and coffee provided
No extra equipment needed (such as helmets, gloves etc)

      Same in Brisbane.
I emailed them and they said if you log on to the VW owners area you get a discount code but didn't tell me anything else.

Apparently the website is youvw.com.au or something.

Great thanks. I'm still trying to get access to the owners area.

          Me too.
Have got nothing from VW about how to gain access.

If the price reduces it would probably be okay if you get a whole day course but i am unlikely to attend.

I did this when it was free.... Don't know if I'd pay $150 for it. You get to fang the GTI and GTD around a track for a lap or two, and you get to do evasive driving type dodging cones in the CC, and tiguan for about 10 minutes. The Polo GTI wasn't around when I did it so obviously didn't get to drive that. We didn't get to take the R around the track, rather got taken in groups of three on hot laps.

It was a good day, as I didn't pay for it and I enjoyed driving around a track, but I don't know whether it would be worth the added coin.

Having said that, I did register (for $275) as I figure that I will get to do things in a GTI which I would never dream of in my own car (those 18inch tyres are expensive,so too are brakes!), plus it is well priced compared to what BMW, Audi or Porsche charge for a similar event.

Also, free driver training is really only given out for high end cars from people I speak to (e.g. AMG Mercs, Porsche) but may be given for free via the dealer for lesser models - although I prefer the cash discount if it came down to either one..

I also did it last year and thought is was a fantastic day, although i'm not sure it is worth $250.

If i can do it for $150 i may be interested but haven't got my VW ID to enter the owners area..

Your "Owner Login ID" is actually printed on the "paper address sheet" that is sent out with the Volkswagen Magazine some time after you've purchased your car. It's the little number about your name and address. The problem is, it isn't clearly identified as important information, so most people chuck out that piece of paper. If you still have it though, it'll save you a phone call

Thanks Corey. I've long since stopped receiving the VW magazine but I'll chase it up.

I got an email from VW about it with a code for discount. Have signed up for the event in Adelaide. Looking forward to it.

Must say VW do need to sharpen their act up (have emailed them about it) as I signed up for Adelaide, receipt shows Adellaide, online shows Adelaide and the brochure they sent me said I had enrolled for Melbourne and all Phillip Island details - nothing about Adelaide details. Will await VW response.

I finally got my email from them however it was fo the sydney event.................

Still not going as it is unlikely to be of any use to me.

Maybe if it turns out okay i will go next year.

                            Not holding my breath though.
