Hi Gents, change of plans. Because we start racing at 9 am the convoy will have to leave at 5 am (sharp) from Geelong corio roadhouse. Who else is joining the convey, and where will you be waiting? Just asking so that no one gets forgotten.
Thanks to Paul for organising, Scotty for lunch, Daniel (german VW dude) for fixing my car, Rhys (for helping me fix the car after it broke again), Adam (for pushing me harder), and everyone else that made it a great day.
Too bad my car only survived 1 session and abit... but great fun nonetheless; I'm sure all of us now know what areas need to be strengthened or upgraded!
Just got back to Geelong. A big thumbs up to everyone for making it such a great track day. Great people, great weather and no serious incidents!!!!! What more could you ask for?!?!
I reckon if Dan (lucky 13) got a dollar for every job he did today....and that on public holiday rates!!
But you still did a bloody good time 1:46.something ?
I think I started pushing early, so I wouldn't have been able to find more than another second or so, at least with my limited skill and terrible budget road tyres/stock suspension/brakes!
Tommie, sorry for stealing Dan for a couple of hours! He is now my hero.
On you dan! what an awesome day was great catching up with/meeting the gang! Thanks heaps paul for posting the event hopefully many more to come :d Scotty you r a legend mate thanks for lunch bro and sorry to see your car out John was an awesome little run we had when you were on track mate. Hopefuly you have the beast fully sorted next time tom, bummer that u had some issues bro.
boys... it was an absolute pleasure! slipping clutch = gotta reserve funds = couldn't play today, but hopefully sometime soon...
(just being anal here...) funny how sometimes people complain about diesel noise in a car - greg's polo tdi was probably the quietest of the lot, haha - couldnt even hear it from 8m away on the winton straight!
im so stoked for john (dna john, audi s4) ... how gutted would you be to find out that a boost issue started with a bit of pipe that you'd have to lift the engine out for?
..... half an hour later, john's got a guy leaning in over his engine bay, pulling stuff out and giving commands with a slightly... well... authoritative european tone
10 mins later, there are 4 of us, standing around, quietly saying "god ufcking dammit, germans are AWESOME!!!"
daniel - get the tools and the tape and all the rest of it - go to every track day and charge $50 to help someone out, whoever needs it. you'll be RICH, and very quickly, man... the fact that john managed to go out again TWICE, is awesome!
adzy - i know there are some in the mk6 crew who think their little hatchbacks would look good with dolce 20'' or 19'' wheels.... they're called FRUITYPANTS. those 17''s look fuggin awesome on your car (namely, people, adzy's mk5 with 17'' enkei rpf1's looks damn tough, and all those fruitbooters who think a hatchback would look good with 19 / 20'' lexanis on their cars, even if they ARE an option... haha. pics pls).
Rhys - love the VR. i wont say what has been done to it (SHOOSH!) but sufficed to say, peeps will get a glimpse!
to the boys in the mk1 - im sorry that you didnt come along for lunch - you were always welcome, being dubbers. i am bad with short term memory, and i thought you were pit crew for the burgundy metallic (yes, i know my colors, you vw poofs) evo 10, so i wasnt proactive in terms of introducing myself and forcing you to eat my sausages.... next time, come say hi........ you'll get fed in return, haha!
keep this isht going, boys.... even as a non participant, i learned so much today, purely by observation.
i'll load the photographs when i figure out how to use the thing what photoflkr....
scotty
pps.... after having driven a diesel for three years, paul, i think that if i saw ANYTHING on my display thjat was doing 60L / 100km, i would officially shart my poonts.
