If there is confirmation of some clio sports coming I am in! I have always wanted a Clio sport. Starting to consider one as a weekend toy. 172s are coming down in price nicely.
Is that your 172 in your DP Break? Looks great! I would love a silver one with those delicious speedlines from the UK edition CUPsCurrent: 2001 BMW E46 M3 6Speed, 1992 Mercedes Benz W108 300E 2.6
Gone but not forgotten: Audi B7 A4 2.0T Quattro, VW Golf Mk1 x10, VW Golf Mk3, VW Vento Mk3, VW Golf GTI Mk4, Peugeot 205 GTI, Nissan Stagea, Honda Jazz.

Would you guys be able to link me (or list) other Euro car forums? I think it'd be good to establish an account on them for cruises/meets and other events.Last edited by maca; 17-03-2011, 02:56 PM.2002 Volkswagen Bora V5 - 2007 Mazda 3 GT - 1998 Ford Contour Sport - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta 2.0T - 2013 Volkswagen Passat 130TDI - 2015 Ford Escape 1.5 - 2016 Subaru WRX - 2018 Volkswagen Golf R Wolfsburg Wagon

But yeah, they are getting VERY cheap. The price was the reason I got one to replace my Polo GTI, as I was keen to get a second house deposit going. That said, beware of French build quality and maintenance costs.
Once you get beyond those, they are a cracking little car, as good as my Mx5 10AE around the bends... easily the most fun on four wheels that you can have around a mountain for sub $10k.Previous Rides: Polo GTI, Mx5 10AE, MY05 WRX WRP10, Renault Sport Clio 172
Current Ride: Evo 8 MR, Fabia MK3

I used to own a 205 GTI (best $1500 I ever spent) so am used to crappy french build quality. I don't mind about interior rattles and squeaks though as I want to strip it out anyway. The only hesitations I am having is the problems with things like engines blowing (seems to be when the cam belt is done dodgily?). Where do you get yours serviced btw?
Theres a maroon one on ebay for 5k at the moment, if only I could sell my Vento!
Hope to see you (and some more RSC's) at the euro meet!Current: 2001 BMW E46 M3 6Speed, 1992 Mercedes Benz W108 300E 2.6

But yeah, engine's are strong... the belts, not so much so. So long as the belts/tensioners are replaced at the scheduled times they are fine... it's just many people neglect to replace them as often as they should.
The only major mechanical quibble is most gearboxes leak (minor leak around the selector fork), and a small number of people have had synchro issues because they've failed to monitor the oil levels. The leak is very slow, so not worth a full rebuild to replace the offending seal... it's just a matter of checking the gearbox oil levels at each service interval (it's easy to access, which makes this a simpler job)Previous Rides: Polo GTI, Mx5 10AE, MY05 WRX WRP10, Renault Sport Clio 172
