  • VIC VIC roadtrip to VW nationals in Sydney!

    Hi all!

It's still a while away, but it's always good to get the ball rolling early, and gauge some interest for some of the victorians wanting to make thier way up to sydney for the annual VW nationals!

    Date: Sunday 22nd May.

What we've done in the past is go up friday, and come back monday. This gives us a nice relaxed drive up and back, and some time to socialise with the locals on saturday and sunday. (also gives plenty of time for the consumption of many beverages!)

So I'll throw it open, who's interested in making the trip up??

I know a few people have expressed interest in the trip, as well as a number of regulars.

Accomodation wise, I think the place we stayed year before last (the serviced apartments, that I've forgotten the name of) was a pretty decent get up, for a reasonable price, especially for a larger group.

    thoughts, comments, questions? Fire away!

    EDIT:

Here are people who have expressed interest in coming and are after some accomodation.
    dylan8/Dyl + mrs
    silver dub/Tim + mrs
    V666/Matt + 1???
    Tim

And those who are just coming:
    Josh.
    waterboy/james

NOTE: I am unable to attend this event unfortunately, but hopefully this thread can still serve as useful to those who still plan on going.

Dyl, we normally meet right up the top end of town, and then straight up the hume. Hopefully roadworks (GRRrr..) will have been completed from last year!

I reckon staying overnight thursday in Melb would probs be the go for you two, we generally try and leave reasonably early, help avoid excess traffic etc. (~6:30/7am)

I might be up for it depending on my workload. Be good to get a massive crew together to make the road trip. Always more fun with a bigger gang.
Agreed that the apartments we stayed at that year were best.

This is the joint we stayed at year before last.

Ryde AMG Motel ∧ Serviced Apartments Facilities

was $90 for 3 nights per person, which was great. Facilities weren't the fanciest of the best, but the beds were comfy!

By the looks of it, the prices have gone up, an would be closer to $115 for 3 nights. Perhaps with a larger booking (ie more rooms) we could get a better price.

Let me know what you think!

Good place, off street parking and plenty of food near by.
