Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • ACT CBR VW OC - 20th March 2011 - Cruise to Tidbinbilla & BBQ.

CBR VW OC's next cruise/event for the whole family has been planned and is as follows:

∙ Meet at Regatta Point between 9 - 9:30am and take some pictures with a 10:15am departure on the right side of the bridge coming from Civic:

(Due to Google Maps Image being old it doesn't show the carpark that is now there.)

∙ Head over to Tidbinbilla Visitor Centre then through to the Discovery Playground area for a BBQ.

Now as quoted from the website:

    Entry Fees

Entrance fees to Tidbinbilla were re-introduced on 1 August 2009 after substantial rebuilding and improving visitor facilities after the 2003 bushfires. Entry fees are used to enhance visitor services and directly contribute to your experience at Tidbinbilla.

Annual Pass private vehicle (up to 8 seats) $20.00
Annual Pass private vehicle (concession) $13.00
    Annual Pass motorcycles $10.00
    Annual Pass motorcycles (concession) $6.50
Day Pass private vehicle (up to 8 seats) $10.00
Day Pass private vehicle (concession) $6.50
    Day Pass motorcycles $5.00
Day Pass group entry (coaches, per person) $2.00
Day Pass group entry (school groups, per person) $1.00

    • Annual Pass - purchase at Tidbinbilla Visitor Centre or online with Canberra Connect

    • Day Pass - purchase at Tidbinbilla Visitor Centre

Call Canberra Connect on 13 22 81 or Tidbinbilla Visitor Centre on (02) 6205 1233 for further information.
This means that if you wish to attend the BBQ part of this event you will have to pay entry to the park, but from the quote above you can see it’s not that much and the area really is a nice place to sit, relax and talk about VW’s with the added bonus of a big playground for the kids.

Remember to bring camping chairs, food & drinks

Hope to see lots of new faces and all you oldies to of course as it will be a fun and relaxing event for all dubbers.

    Thanks,
    Nick.

(discussion of event will also be HERE @ CBR VW OC)

Alright, cruise is getting closer so here is a couple of possible routes to Tidbinbilla:

First route is a recommended 1 hour 8 minutes:

Second is again a recommended 1 hour 12 minutes:

I personally don't think it takes that long from memory and thats not speeding I should add, but then I haven't driven that way in nearly a year so can't remember how long it will take.
