If you're driving from NSW to Yarra Glen again directly next year - take the exit near Wangarrat and head down via Mansfield-Whitfield Road. The road is fabulous and was closed for a rally event a few weeks ago. Depdnding on how spirited you drive, it's just as quick as the Hume, and no toll roads Nice scenery too
Some say he was the Stig... all we know is that he drives a VW Transporter.

      Saturday Cont.

Arrive in Melb. and cruise through traffic for the next couple of hours losing The Hawk for a little bit before having him flying out of a side street tearing it down the road to catch up, before raging it through the Eastlink Tunnel (I want one!!) A short while later we say good bye to The Hawk via CB and head up into mountains and bush.

Just a few shots of the car parked at the crap hole we stay at. Plus one from the window.

Deciding that we really didn't want to sit around there, we decide to head over to Dom's house, for the next 46 minutes we sit in stop start traffic when I look at my phone seeing I've got a message from Dom saying everyone bailed on him. Being only 6km away we call him to see whats going on to find out everyones gone to wash there cars, Dom gives us Josh's (golfman) number and we call him to see where everyone is but his at home. So quick drive out to Yarra Glen to have a look, Chat with a guy in his yellow beetle (sorry forgot name), go buy pizza and JD to wash it down, watch some Inbetweeners then attempt sleep.

      Sunday

5am start, pack bag, say thank god to leaving the hole. Now the Photo above doesn't show how steep the driveway is. (I nearly rolled into the tree trying to be quite) But failing that I let loose and hammered up the driveway hitting about 5500rpm before slightly smoking them in reverse

Then onto the 5:20am car clean.

After the wash we head out to the meet up point and chat a bit before heading off. Must apologize to all who went on that cruise, my camera which was mounted on the front window was set to picture mode, not video so rather then the hour and a bit of video it took one photo. Stoie's was set up right though!

Question for those who know - did you have to do anything special (besides washing your car) to park it inside there for viewing - any extra forms or payments?

Btw - was that guy out the front who was collecting $10pp legit? Seemed a bit odd that he had no tickets or stamps to give out.

Well you didn't have to clean your car, but it was a $25 entry fee plus you had to fill out an entry form so they could judge it

i think they just got really really busy, trying to charge everyone for the $10 entry fee.

but yeah, he was legit- it was advertised in the literature in the weeks leading up to the show, and i saw one of the guys taking money, waaaaaaaay later on in the day at the cavalcade.

as for washing your car- you DO realise these are VWs, right? as in, it will ALWAYS rain in between when you've washed your car, and when the show starts, even if its just the night before?

                        s7utty rain.....

                        • yep - but mine was pretty dirty. Cleaned the wheels only last night since I knew about the rain for these next 3-4 days.

                          • What a day, started a 5am in the work shop all that was left was the front inner wells and wheels to clean.

Finished up just after 6am and just before the rain started, darn rain.

I figured that I needed to leave around 6:45 to get to the meet point for the cruise, but the rain, the rain, the rain, I was not ready for the rain, maybe it would stop, aah break, off I go, I know that the wet on the roads is going to play havoc with my wells but the car will stay clean. NOT. 5 min up the road rain.

Pull over stop and wait, wait, I don't have time to wait, maybe I can catch the cruise close to Yarra Valley. Not. more rain slow down, thinking my work is ruined, I decide to just get there and give her a wipe down and hope for the best and what a day it turned out to be.

Beautiful weather, women, and cars, what more could we ask for.

Thanks to everyone that made comments about my car but there were much better cars than mine there.

I only took a few Pics so here they are,
