  • WA Roadside emissions test in Cottesloe

First read this: Checking out on the road how much your car pollutes - ABC Perth - Australian Broadcasting Corporation

Ok. Now who wants to do a drive by sometime and see what we get? Purely for the lulz!

apparenty it takes a photo of your number plate, so it can correlate emissions with car/engine details (and then ultimately work out where to post a fine?)

they're not used for fines, just part of a "green" initiative.
FYI I went past one in my tuned R32 skyline (without a cat converter), and got an "emissions ok!" message

Just back off as you go through it, if your off the throttle coasting in gear you'll theoretically have no emissions as no fuel mixture is being ignited

They sure do, its just a lot harder to enforce something like that.
For example you could claim a dog farted as you drove past and hence the results are null.
Much harder to prove that you are guilty, unlike with a high precision laser trap etc.

OT, but ADRs allow for a tolerance in speedo accuracy, and tyre wear can affect speedo accuracy by 3-5kph between new and worn/legal.

But this hasnt stopped the Victorian government from fining people for 2-3kph speeding infringements

Talk if fines etc is totally not why I posted this up. I want to - for ****s n giggles - drive past in my vr6 and see how good/bad it is at chucking out bad gasses.

The pessimist in me thinks it'll be terrible. But if a modded R32 can get an OK i'm in with a chance!
