Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • WA 2011 National Bug-in (Toodyay)

    Hi all,

The Volkswagen Club of Western Australia (Inc) is hosting the 2011 annual Bug-in, a national event where all the VW Clubs around the country come together for a long weekend festival.

The event, now in its 42nd year, will be held over the Easter long weekend in Toodyay (just north-east of Perth for you non-West Aussies), from Friday 22nd April to Monday 25th April 2011.

There will be a convoy departing SA on Monday 18th April. Then as part of the weekend, there will be a Show & Shine on Saturday, plus a motorkana event and a Road Trip of the south west in the week following. The Show & Shine is open to everyone, but at this stage the details of the Road Trip are still being finalised although it will probably be open to non-Club members

The Bug-In is the coming together of the Volkswagen Clubs of Australia to partake in a long weekend of camaraderie and friendly motor sport competition. The Bug-In is hosted by a different state based VW Club over the Easter weekend every year, moving from State to State in an anti-clockwise direction.
    Further details here:

    THE NATIONAL BUG-IN

VW Club members are invited to pre-register before the end of October for the chance to win 4 nights accommodation. (You need to be a paid member of the VW Club of WA for this.)

If you are a Club member, you should have received pre rego details in the recent magazines & newsletters or it is available on the Club website Volkswagen Club of Western Australia (Inc)

    More details to come...

    Cheers

Email from Rod (WA Club secretary)

                  Hi VW Club Member,

The Club committee decided to suggest to you that perhaps a holiday is what you need to get rid of those stresses from your life and your club is offering an ideal opportunity for you to do just that. And what more incentive do you need? The 4 nights fully paid accommodation at Avalon Homestead in the scenic Avon Valley over Easter was won by Bob & Allie. Now on offer is the equivalent of 2 nights fully paid accommodation at Avalon Homestead. Also up for grabs is $200 worth of goods just for registering for the Easter weekend in Toodyay. You’d be mad not to.

This is a national event that only happens in WA every 5 years .... and if you have already registered, you are in for a great weekend. The $220 package includes:-

Hot Cross Buns and tea / Coffee on Good Friday
                  B-B-Q Tea with drinks included
A Show ‘n Shine in the main street on Easter Saturday ($10 entry)
An afternoon cruise to 3 main attractions around Toodyay
An awesome 3 course dinner on Saturday night
A motorkhana or bus trip to York on Sunday
A formal Presentation Dinner in the Town Hall – drinks included - with a guest from Volkswagen Australia

Yep ..... All for $220 per person ...... or you can pick and choose what you which to attend - see the registration form on the web site.

There are still more people from the eastern states registered than there are from WA. You should be registered by the end of Monday 28th February, but as co organiser of the Bug-In I’m going behind Ray’s back and letting you know that if you reply to this email by Friday 4th March and subsequently get your form in, then I’ll include you in the draw...... but don’t tell Ray.

                  Still don’t know what a Bug-In is?

Well at Easter every year, all the VW Clubs in Australia, are invited by a host club to get together for a weekend of commerarderie, social interaction and motorsport. There is 1 guy who has been to all but 1 Bug-In I think, since the first one in 1970 and he’s always got a funny story to tell. It’s also a chance to show off the WA branch of the marquee to those from across the border. It really is a fun weekend.

The community of Toodyay has really got behind this event and opened the door to the town for the club. We may never get this opportunity again. So press the reply button and put yourself in the chance for some great prizes.

                  You won’t be disappointed.

                  Rod McSwain
The offer is open to VW Club WA members only, but should give everyone else a good idea of what is happening for the Bug-In weekend.

                  Hi Geoff,

You are obviously aware of the Bug-In at Easter 22-25 April and probably aware of the Show ‘n Shine on Easter Saturday in Toodyay. It’s a $10 entry and is open to all.
There are posters and fliers around and Ray will have the registration form on the web site soon. Also, we would prefer everyone pre register to save time on the day. Yes .... there will be trophies presented in a different format. Distance travelled, age, overall appearance etc etc. The show is from 9am (cars in by 9am) - til 1pm.

Sorry mate I just copied & pasted Should have clarified...

We can enter the show day & motorokana etc. The package is available to club members as I read it, but since they are still chasing numbers if anyone is interested check the club website Volkswagen Club of Western Australia (Inc) or contact Rod & you might be able to register for the rest of it even if not a Club member. I believe there is a roadtrip through the south west as well, the week following the show day.

I'll send him the link for this thread and ask him to confirm.
