i do have to say next time we are on a crusie is someone has a problem the last car who has a walkie talkie should stop and check everything is ok.

twice i stopped and not one person stop to check if i was alright with the car, the group just kept driving. on the second leg golfme_up's brakes were smoking so i pulled him ova and we waited about 7 mins for them to cool down, then when we got to the bottom of the hill everyone was gone, and from this we made a wrong turn and had to do a big loop, during the hole day i used a whole tank of gas

and then when we got to the second leg stop at the bridge no cars were there so we tried to call the numbers on the paperwork but to no answers, so we just kept going untill we came across the red mk2 in someones yard and then we had a 3 cars cruise to the fish and chip shop
I dont think this is very fair mate...alot of work goes into organising and holding a cruise or gtg and for not much thanks.the guy at the end is doing it to help any stragglers and we have never had anyone doing this.its your responsibility to keep up,anyway you had a map!!maybe next time, you could be the one ddoing this job???
id like to know shaneth why you wont do another cruise??? even though I told you this would be your first and last cruise organisation.I know how you feel.

Mate its because a few of the guys have posted negative responses almost personal attacks towards me. And knowing how much time and MONEY i dedicated to this cruise. Not to mention the stress involved. Perosnally if thats the response i get even by the minority i would rather wait for someone else to do it. Hell i organised last one and did a major part of this one, its about time someone else did a bit of the work. Thanks golfer for everything you did to organise this cruise. Especially through such tough times. I to am proud of you.

and after the symbolism of this cruise, you would have thought that any complaints would have been kept to a pm.Instead of ditching the cruise, which I would have done in Jons shoes,he kept his word and dedicated the cruise to his JAZ...did you guys forget this ?? this is just a huge negative on such a even more huge and fantastic cruise.
congratulations again Jon and Shane!!! for the sake of our MOSTLY GREAT members, dont allow this to dampen your spirits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

much respect go's out to the guys to the guys who organized the cruise, i know i could not have done it, i was just making point so we can resolve this issue for the next cruise cause the whole point of a cuise is for everyone to go together and if someones car breaks down there are other people to lend a hand or a spare seat for the rest of the cruise.

Many many thanks goes out to John and Shane for doing there upmost to hold this cruise tgether!! In the end (nearly) no-one got lost and the fish and chips were fast and nice! . . . well i thaught it was fast considering the flood that they were hit with!!

Was great to meet everone from the previous cruises and also to meet the newbies! Though there were a lot of our 5th generation there and not ebough old school imo!! and to my greatest supprise there were no mk4'z???? what tha!?

anyways, after yet another successfull cruise im looking forward to the next!

                      Big Boots step in

                      Stop and consider this:
                      • At least 2 people put in a lot of time and effort to get this event off the ground. Its success or failure depends not just upon them, but upon all of the participants
                      • A "cruise" is a cruise. Not a race
                      • As soon as you get out onto the road and mix it with other road users you have a responsibility to them, not only to other cruise participants
                      • Cruises are not convoys and never will be as long as they are held on public roads. If you want a convoy hire a race track for a day and drive around it together
                      • When you mix "Old Skoolers" with R32s and Mk5 GTIs there is a huge difference in ability. You can't expect them to stay together in performance
Guys, I'm disappointed in the way that this thread has progressed. I want you all to remember the its intent and the friendly, cooperative ethos that this forum upholds. At least the fish and chips ended the day well.

                        mk3 love....

Being neither from the old skool or the new skool with my Mk3 I can probably suggest that the older cars are generally just as hard to keep up with, I sorted a few things on my car prior to cruise..(expensive week last week) for my enjoyment, reliability and because I wanted to do a better job of keeping up than I did on the first run. The organization was exemplary, the behavior of the drivers was outstanding and the route was well planned and mapped.

Great to meet more friendly VW drivers, shame I had to take off straight after my "family feast" cause I had to make it from Tweed Heads to Brisbane Airport in 1hr 30mins for work. I drove nearly 400km for the day and used only 2/3rds of a tank of 98octane...oh and it only took me 1hr 10mins to get to the apt from the fish and chip shop, hope there aren't any unwelcome photos of my car on the cruise heading my way!

                        Awesome day...

I wish I knew the exact distance so I could calculate average speed, cause some jerkoff in a Prado decided he wanted to tailgate me regardless of how fast i was moving along. As for the 8v, it did me proud on Sunday. It was a long day sunday...730am start 230am finish....Not as long as Alex and Dave though!

A big hand to Shaneth and John Golfer for all the effort they put into the cruise. It seemed very well laid out and organized from here.

                                Sorry to hear of your bust up Jay, lets have a before and after pic and a description of the build. I thought it was just me who could spend 5 months building a car and 5 hours driving it to destruction;

Whose is the Mk2 Jetta? There will be another one up there soon.

Dave your Green Mk1 is lookig sweet.
