Grasstree Hill road now has a 60km/h limit on it and it only goes for 8kms anyway. However, plenty of room for a bbq and get together at the other end of it as I will be on my block of land well and truly by then. Pretty much on a road that heads north for those who have to return that way.
The channel has some great roads, Cygnet has a nice pub with great meals. Most of us down here know the targa stages down that way.
Last time we had a VWW drive down that way only 3 cars turned up and member Golfcart who organised the day was driving his BMW.
Had a couple of people from Launnie who promised to show up but must have had late changes of plans, didnt show up.
We need some VW social interest down here, once upon a time, we were leaders on the forum for having good drives and get togethers...

I'm up for just a meet and chat. I'm going to a datsun one in the next couple of weeks and It's only photos and bbq. I'm all for trying to get more get togethers happening. Really, hobart isn't that far for me.

It's a bugger with all the 60kph limits around country roads these days! Perhaps Sunday so most people shouldn't have work commitments? August 22nd or 29th? I like the Cygnet idea, haven't had a chance to go down that way before.

                  count me out
Dont mind the odd HWY drive, but after 2-3 hours of driving with a 4 speed and loud exhaust it really kills..

May be crowded at that meeting spot, being on top of BigW?
I suggest meeting at the B68 no. on the left of the pic, its on the highway route, turn right at the roundabout there and you have a large area with Maccas, KFC and a car wash with a load of room. I am easy though and will meet where ever. 12 may be too late as the northerners have a longish drive home.
From Kingston its a good 45 minute drive to Cygnet using some of the targa roads. The views down the channel are special as well so stop offs here and there will make that time longer.
There are picnic areas in Cygnet, not sure about gas bbq's. Theres a nice bakery there as well.

Ok well I'm planning to go scouting the area on my bike first, I'll check out what the parking is like on sunday at 10:30-11am and where there may be other places to park. How early are the northerners wanting to get up? I know it's probly a good 2.5hrs from Launie to Kingston! I'm hoping my turbo will turn up in time to go on before the cruze, may be giving you a call in the next few weeks Andrew
