Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Great Day

Awesome Day Jimmy, thank you so much, It was great meeting the guys at last, such a nice bunch, made us feel really welcome,Thanks guys.
Big thanks Matt for the cd full of photo's of Chris.
Huge thanks to the EFI guys for what they did for HAH44, we were really scared to put her on as it was her first trip out, but the extra trouble they went too and reassurance they gave us, was brilliant, of course Jimmy's cheeky grin, who could resist that, Chris would have been so proud, I bet if he was watching he would have had the biggest grin. Look forward to seeing everyone again soon.
Chris's VR6pitcrew, RIP our Chris *our No.1 Son*

        • Hi all,

I had a great day today meeting some new people and catching up with a few familiar faces. The highlight for me was definitely seeing Chris' VR6 out and on the dyno, it was great. Unfortunately my car now has (i think) a broken waterpump and overheats almost instantly. Good thing I didn't dyno it I think.

Good work Jimmy for organising it all today and thanks to the guys at EFI for spending their Saturday with a few Dubbers.

          -Matt.

I'd love to, but I have no idea how to scan from the wireless printer...

Thats sounds complicated. I put the piece of paper on my printer/ scanner and it tells me which button to push. Pic then pops up on my computer when its done.

It was 16.5-17.0 psi from memory. I know I was down a TON of boost (I have a boost gauge fitted, and I'm ususally around 20.5-21.5psi peak)

                      • Thanks Jimmy for organising the day! Was good to catch up with everyone again.

Not that happy with my results - down on last time, ran in 4th not 3rd too.

Finished quickly editing the videos and am currently uploading them. At this rate it'll be about a year until they're done!

Hey boss, dont quote me as ive only seen a couple of printouts i was all over the place like a blue a$%#@! fly trying to catch up , help out etc. But my belief is the software that dyno dynamics have is like a Beissbarth wheel aligner ( thats what its likened to ) you punch in the make and model and the ramp rates are set. I know there is pog printouts here, my T4 Ramp rates were lots different.
I would like to get more clued up in dyno land, especially when im gonna be software tunig all makes, im sure ill be attending lots more dyno days and hopefully organise another VW in the future. It was a top day.
Quick requset, did any one catch a pic of the father in law cooking the barbie?????? i really should have as he was stoked to catch up and have a yarn with some of ya, he had a top day too.
                          Cheers

                          • Running around like a headless chook but it all went off without a hitch! Golf clap Jimmeh, good show wot

My thanks to you (with special mention to your Pops in Law and his mad BBQ skillz!) all the other VWWC members who rocked up and the hard working lads @ EFI for making my first dyno day nothing short of a fantastic experience.

FWIW here are my plots from the day (AFRs/PWR/TRQ)

AFR map looks pretty clean all the way along the usable range

I couldn't care less about max powah figures, so the PWR/TRQ map therefore came as a bit of a (pleasant) surprise.

The power figure is improved from the stock 140 to a useful 153 ATW since Jimmy waved his magic CC wand over the ECU. Considering VW lists the stock torque figure for the V6 at only 199 FtLb, the torque figure was also a big surprise.

                            EDIT: these figures on 98RON.

OK, ta. Mine peaked at about 17 too, seemed to drop off fairly sharply though.

I can do that. It's getting it to my computer FROM the printer that's a biatch.
