Sorry to chime/hijack your thread... didn't know where to post to find people from Canberra...

I'm looking for a HUGE favour... i'm from sydney, but i have been eyeing up on a golf gti pirelli, and there is one in ACT with what i'm looking for... it is located at Slaven Mazda, 140 Melrose Drive Phillip ACT 2606... i don't know if that is in the city, suburb or not even in canberra lol

Basically the salesman called and we chatted for a while, but he couldn't really give me much information on the car, was a little rude as well... on the carsales ad, it doesn't have pictures, it just simply say pristine condition... but for the price/kms it seemed too good to be true...

So basically i'm in sydney and it is a 3-4 hours (8 hours return) drive to get to canberra just to check out the car... it would be great if someone can go check it out to see if it is really "pristine condition", scratches etc. especially you guys are all vw lovers and know what to look for

It would be awesome if someone who live close by can do that, it would be highly appreciated, PM me if you can

It is a mazda dealer... so the pirelli should be the only one there.

Basically the main thing i'm looking for are...

1. exterior... any scratches on it... basic condition of the car
2. interior... what optional extras are there... it doesn't indicate anything on the ad... there are only 3 optional extras on the pirelli, which are bi-xenon headlights, parking distance sensors, and sat nav...
3. Since you have a r32, IF you have time to take it out, i'm sure you would know how well or bad it is running.
4. On the ad it says demo/new... which i'm a little suspicious about... as it has 8000+km on it... and they are a mazda dealer!!! why would they have a vw as demo?

Those are probably the main things i'm looking out for... of course if you notice anything else, it would be great to know, and your opinion on the car as well is totally welcome.

The car is advertised as $39,990... when i spoke to the used car manager (david), he said he can get it down to $39k... if you have time ONLY if you do, see what kind of price you can get it down to, as dealing on the phone, he wouldn't really negotiate properly compare to dealing in person.

Okay, here is the plan.

Route to the Causeway:
Manuka to Causeway

Route from Causeway to Departure:
Causeway to dept

* We will park wherever at the meeting location in Bougainville St Manuka.
From here we will eat, relax get to know one another etc. (we will decide on the day where to eat)
* Then after lunch, everyone can make the short drive to our first hangout location at the causeway in the back of Kingston foreshore, here we can get some photo ops.
* Next, we cruise as a group out toward the cotter, taking the route specified. Upon arrival we will stop and enjoy photo ops number 2.
* From here we will continue past the cotter and toward Point Hut road. Turn left from Tidbinbilla road onto Point Hut road, then follow the route onto Mugga Lane then back toward Manuka.
* Finally stopping for our goodbyes on the side of Captain Cook Cres. From here we depart.

Anyway, hope you like the schedule and should be a fun day, can't wait!

I will make about 20 copies of the route as handouts for people who don't print one off here.

As a side note, please guys if you can bring CB radios, they are very useful if anyone gets lost or the group gets split by lights.

So how did it all go?

Was a great GTG, we are planning on having a monthly GTG now.
And then probably 2 major events each year, like a track day/skid pan etc.

Hey mate,

I went and looked over the car this afternoon, couldn't take it out unfortunately due to time, however, it is a damn sweet deal!

Car has RNS-510 Sat Nav, DSG, Park Sensors, but no Xenon.
Body is perfect not paint damage or dents, only thing is there seems to be a rubber scuff of decent size on the front bumper, but should come back with cut and polish.

Guy at the shop was nice, said he would do 39k as well, that's where I got same as you.

Interior, from what I could see (drivers door open only) it had no damage and was in basically new condition. Said 8300 on the clock.

Everything I saw was smick, no kerbing on any rims either.

Didn't pop bonnet or boot, but I imagine all is well, he says there is a fair bit of interest, but no one 100% yet, I don't think he is lying either. He said a guy from VIC is going to fly up to check it out, that you?

Anyway, very nice and if your after one this would be the deal of the century.

Yes, it is a damn good deal!! i thought it would just be standard with no options, but with sat nav and parking sensors makes it an even better deal!!

No, i'm not from VIC, sydney NSW here. I did say i might drive down to check it out , but there is no need thanks to you for checking it out, now it is just against the clock, as the gap between trade in price and 39k is just a little bit too big for me, if i sell my car private, it is within my budget, but at this current market, nothing is selling fast.

From the sound of it, i don't think i will make it in time unless there is a miracle!
