Actually a stretched tyre (within safe limits) can improve sidewall stiffness & reduce flex in the tyre. Handy if you're drifting, but also noticable during spirited driving.
Fair enough for drifting, but that's on a track. Having a stiffer sidewall and less flex SERIOUSLY lowers grip and on the roads, grip is something you want to maximise.
